The Community Development Department adopts Volunteer Work Policy in Abu Dhabi

In the framework of promoting the spirit of initiative and community engagement, the National Volunteering work policy serves as a bridge connecting individuals interested in volunteering with available opportunities, ensuring the organization of volunteer efforts in accordance with the highest standards. The work policy including the registration platform aims to facilitate the registration process for volunteers, publish available opportunities, and provide the necessary licenses for the practice of volunteer work.


Definition of Volunteering and Volunteer Work:

1. Volunteering: The act of dedicating time and effort without compensation to serve the community. A volunteer may be a natural person or a legal entity.


2. Volunteer Work: Any individual or collective activity conducted without compensation, aimed at achieving public benefit and general welfare.


The Electronic Volunteering Platform:
The national volunteering platform, or any other platform affiliated with the department, is responsible for publishing volunteering opportunities, facilitating volunteer registration, and issuing the necessary licenses.


Types of Volunteering:

1. Virtual Volunteering: Conducted online via the Internet.


2. Specialized Volunteering: Based on specialized skills.


3. Emergency Volunteering: In response to emergencies, crises, and natural disasters.


4. International Volunteering: Volunteering activities carried out outside the country.


5. Institutional Volunteering: Involves public or private sector employees participating in corporate social responsibility programs.


Registration Conditions for Natural and Visitor
Volunteers:

• The individual must be a citizen of the country or hold a valid residency permit in the country.

• The individual must be at least 18 years of age.

• The individual must have a good reputation and conduct, and must be medically fit.

• The individual must process a license to practice in the case of specialized volunteering.

• The individual must accept the Volunteer Work Charter and be registered to practice volunteer work.

• Regarding visitor volunteers, all the above conditions apply, except for the residency and age requirements, in addition to the following conditions:

• The individual must be at least 21 years of age.

• The individual’s area of volunteering must be in the field approved by the relevant authority.

• The duration of volunteering must not exceed the period of visit.
